A 2015 Ford Mustang convertible, assembled overnight as part of a publicity stunt, sits on the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York.

Ford did it again. In celebration of the Mustang’s 50th Anniversary, Ford actually assembled a pony on top of the Empire State Building in New York, just as they did in 1964 to debut the first ever Mustang! It wasn’t airlifted, it was actually chopped into multiple pieces to fit through the 36 inch wide elevator and re-assembled at the top. This was a HUGE accomplishment, especially considering the snow and wind the team faced while on the 86th floor putting the Mustang back together over night. Despite the weather, the project was a success and the 2015 pony now sits atop the tallest building in New York City! Check out the video below to see how they did it:

To keep the celebration going, Ford is unveiling the 50th Anniversary Edition Mustang at the New York Auto Show. Only 1,964 units will be produced, so it’s sure to be a highly coveted vehicle! In addition, Mustangs Across America just finished their impressive cross country anniversary drive from CA to NC in time for the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration hosted by Mustang Club of America at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which takes place April 17-20, 2014.
